Heart pine is a very stable wood in many different environments, making it a great choice for flooring, fine millwork, and furniture.
Throughout our 50-year history, we have developed and refined the best grading process for our flagship product, Heart Pine Flooring. Thanks to our skilled craftsmen and processes, most orders ship in two weeks or less.
The Beauty of Reclaimed Heart Pine Flooring
Reclaimed heart pine has an unparalleled beauty that makes it one of the most desirable flooring materials available.
The rich color patina of heartwood can range from a light cream to deep burgundy, while the unique grain patterns will vary from a very wavy cathedral grain to a very straight combed grain. Depending on how the beam is cut, it will create different patterns on the board’s face.
We grade our reclaimed heart pine through a proprietary process that starts at the salvage site—raw material is separated to like sizes and graded by demo damage, grain density, and knot content.
The wood then moves to our warehouse, where it is resawn, trimmed, and graded again according to heartwood content, knot size/content, nail hole size/content, and grain density/orientation.
The Benefits of Reclaimed Heart Pine Flooring
Heartwood pine flooring offers a wide range of benefits, such as:
- The “wearability factor.” The rugged durability of heart pine makes it impervious to dings and dents—including kids running into it at full speed.
- It is a very stable wood in different environments, making it a great choice for flooring, fine millwork, and furniture.
- Bonds incredibly well with paints, finishes, and epoxies—even for exterior uses.
- It “moves” very little with seasonal changes compared to other species and is very stable regarding moisture changes.
- Low maintenance and a proven track record of lasting hundreds of years.
The durability and strength of this tongue and groove harvested selection will add long-lasting value for many years to come. We offer many options with our reclaimed wood floors, including wide plank flooring and custom sizes.

Frequently Asked QuestionsAbout Reclaimed Heart Pine Flooring
Heart Pine is Southern Longleaf Yellow Pine. It was the wood of choice in many larger homes in the first 200 years of our nation’s history, especially in the South, where it originally grew. Unfortunately, demand for Longleaf Pine caused it to be timbered off by the early turn of the century.
Because these pine trees grow very slowly and require between 150 and 400 years to develop the “heart,” which gives the material its distinctive color and hardness, it is unlikely that this wood species will ever again be available in commercial quantities.
Reclaimed Heart Pine Flooring Care and Maintenance
Maintaining your heart pine flooring is relatively easy and low-maintenance. However, there are a few important considerations that will allow your new floor to continue to look great for hundreds of years to come.
